Mission Statement:
From its founding in 2014, the Lightning Athletic Club (LAC) leaders have believed that physical activity complements academic development and personal growth. It is the mission of the LAC to offer a wide range of quality programs which will encourage and facilitate all participants to realize opportunities for championship athletic participation, physical fitness and well being.

The LAC works to:
Increase the quality of athletics
Generate community involvement
Provide structure and manage resources effectively
Fundraise to support athletic programs
Increase participation in athletics

Lightning Athletic Club Fee Policy

Student Athlete Fees

Middle School Sports (checks made payable to NPMM)

A fee will need to be paid per individual sport (facilities fee, insurance, refs/umpire fees, uniforms). A LAC Lightning Season Pass will also be given to the immediate family of all student athletes who pay sports fees prior to the first home game. This pass will provide immediate families with free admission to HOME ball games during that specific sport. (tournaments excluded).

Shooter shirts, extra equipment, camps, and warm up's may result in an extra fees.

Fall Sports

Cheerleading (May Tryouts): Coach Kuhar
Softball (July Tryouts): Co-op with Red Bank Middle School
Football* (July Tryouts): Co-op with CSAS Coach Bowser and Coach Gaines
Cross Country (August Tryouts): Coach Kira Carlton
Soccer (Sept. Tryouts): Coach Andrews  and Coach Borrero/Madden

Late Fall/Winter Sports

Cheerleading (May Tryouts): Coach Kuhar
Basketball (October Tryouts): Coach TBD and Coach Hoewischer
Swimming*: Coach Myers (practices with Clubs)
Climbing*: Coach Fahey (practices begin in late Sept.)

Spring Sports

Track and Field (March Tryouts): Coach Gaines
Tennis: TBD
Baseball (February Tryouts):Joe Winland
Volleyball: Coach Daniel Madden 
Golf *: Coach Hoewischer (season begins in March)

Spring Club Sports (various fees apply)

Boys Lacrosse (late February Tryouts): Coach Jason McKinney
Girls Lacrosse (March Tryouts) All Normal Park girls lacrosse players are student are encouraged to sign up with Southern Edge Tournaments.  https://www.southernedgetournaments.com

*Club Sports are based on varied fees with individual organizations throughout our community.

Elementary School (3rd-5th grade) Sports (checks made payable to LAC)

An individual sport (facilities fee, insurance, refs/umpire fees, uniforms) will be required for all participating in Cross Country or Track. All other sports fees and registration fess will be paid to the individual leagues. FOLLOW THE LIGHTNING ATHLETIC CLUB Facebook page for details, schedules, and fee information. 

Fall Sports

3rd-5th Grade Cross Country: Coach Phillip Mansueto.  

Late Fall/Winter Sports  

2022-23 Lightning Basketball: We will host an evaluation for four (possibly five) teams only. The top 10 players in each grade level (20 for 4th and 5th grade boys, if numbers are as they were in 2019-20 season) will be placed on a North Hamilton Basketball League https://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=mdr Team. Coaches are volunteers and MUST schedule and host weekly practices. Gym space is limited. Please contact Tiffany Phillips, [email protected] if you are interested in coaching.

All other Lightning Basketball players are ask to sign up at the YMCA at NorthRiver YMCA. Please make sure to write Normal Park at the top of your registration form, so that NPMM students can be placed on teams together.

Spring Sports

Volleyball: All girls are encouraged to sign up at the North River YMCA.

Track 3rd-5th Grade Only

Volunteer Coach Allen Dorough and Marcus Jones. 
Season begins in March 2023 

Spring Club Sports

Lacrosse

All Normal Park student are encouraged to sign up with Southern Edge Tournaments.  https://www.southernedgetournaments.com

Purchases can be made in the offices on either campus daily during regular school hours 8-3. hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, car magnets, stickers, pencils, koozies, and more! We also host seasonal online sales throughout the school year.

Fence Signs are available for advertising along the Market Street fence.
Cost is $400 for first 12 months (LAC provides sign)
Annual renewal is $250.

FAQ's
FEE: There is an individual sports fee to participate in EACH sport at NPMM.
Exceptions-fees may vary for our club sports: Climbing, Swimming, Lacrosse

REQUIRMENTS: Every athlete must have a completed TSSAA physical form and signed concussion form on file with Dragonfly prior to trying out for a sport.

VOLUNTEERS: Complete your volunteer hours with the LAC.
