Ms. McDuffie

Hello 4th grade families!

A little about me:
I moved here in 2018 from Portland, OR. I am originally from Knoxville. Chattanooga is a beautiful place to call home!

In Portland I received my Master's in Education, this is my 10th year teaching. I stay busy with my two little boys, ages 9 and 3, Elijah and Logan. We love to be outside rather it be on the river fishing, at the park, out on a hike, camping around the area, or just in our garden.

Your child will learn so much this year! We will be reading, writing, and learning about all kinds of subjects, but our main focus each quarter will be:

1. American Revolution and how different perspectives create conflict and change.
2. Creating a new government and building the nation. We will also conduct research on different types of animals.
3. We will learn about the early 1800s and events leading up to the Civil War. We will also focus on poetry and what inspires writers.
4. Students learn about two different times in history, the Civil War and issues and events leading up to the 19th Amendment.

I ask that your student reads at least 80 minutes per week at home.

I look forward to working with your child and watching them grow!
