Learning Expeditions

At Normal Park, our Learning Expeditions are an extension of the classroom. Students participate in Learning Expeditions on a weekly basis. They travel to all of our partner museums:

  • Hunter Museum of American Art
  • Tennessee Aquarium
  • Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center
  • Creative Discovery Museum
  • Chattanooga Zoo
  • Bessie Smith Cultural Center

Students also travel to community partners such as: Chattanooga Public Library, Bluff View Art District, Sculpture Fields at Montague Park, UTC STEM Challenger Center, Chickamauga Battlefield, Renaissance Park, Point Park, Raccoon Mountain, and more!

Chaperone a learning expedition. At Normal Park, our parents are active participants in our student learning expeditions to our museum partners. Choose at least one learning expedition every 9 weeks to attend with your child. Please note the maximum volunteer hours provided for day trips is 5 hours and 8 hours for overnight learning expeditions. All chaperones must have a valid background check to assist with learning expeditions and be responsible for a group of students. No volunteer hours are given for learning expeditions to the IMAX.
