Language Arts - Ms. Wilson

My name is Rochelle Wilson, and I’m excited for our upcoming school year together! My husband and I have recently relocated to North Chattanooga from metro Atlanta, and 2021-2022 will be my first year at Normal Park.

I began my teaching career in 2003. I’ve taught in both middle and high schools and have taught English and Social Studies—including five years of experience at an EL (Expeditionary Learning) public charter school with programming very similar to Normal Park’s.

My passion is teaching writing. I specialize in helping students become more competent and confident in their writing skills—yes, even the students who “hate writing” and think they’re “bad at writing.” Challenge accepted!

I hold an MA in Professional Writing, with a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition and a minor in Creative Writing. My B.A. is in English, with minors in Education and French. I also hold the Diplome de Langue from the Alliance Française.

Some of my hobbies include OrangeTheory Fitness, yoga, flat water kayaking, and spending time with my dogs. I also love vegetarian food (Ethiopian is my favorite!), coffee, and dark chocolate. I’m a very curious and inquisitive person and I enjoy meeting new people, learning new things, having new experiences, and understanding new perspectives.

I really value relationships with all my students and their families, and I purposefully chose to live in the same community in which I teach. I’m your neighbor now, so you’ll probably see me out and about in the community—please stop and say hello!
