Welcome! I am Heather Modrow and I am happy to be part of the Exceptional Education Team at the Lower School. I have been teaching for over 25 years which has given me experience with students of every age and ability.
Besides teaching academics, my goal is to give students strategies that support them in their classroom to access the general education curriculum as well as become more independent academically, socially, and vocationally. This could include a wide variety of supports both in and out of the classroom that are uniquely tailored to meet each child's needs.
Families are a critical part of a child's education and I want to communicate successes and challenges. I am most easily available through email or Class Dojo.
On the personal side. I have been married to my husband Bob for longer than I have been a teacher. I grew up in Michigan, went to college in the Chicago area, married, and taught there for several years before moving to Chattanooga in 2015. During our vacation time, you might find us on a beach or cruise ship or visiting family. I am also a kitten foster through the Humane Educational Society and we have foster failed two kittens last year, James and Bangles.
