Ex Ed - Mrs. Modrow
Welcome! I am Heather Modrow and I am part of the Exceptional Education team here at the lower school. I have been a teacher for over 25 years and have worked with students with almost every exceptionality or disability.  My studies and certifications include elementary education, special education, early childhood, and an ENL endorsement. I have been trained in Orton Gillingham through IMSE. I am currently in a special education cohort to stay up to date on best practices. I believe in continuing my own education to be the best teacher I can be.
My goals are to teach students strategies that support them in their classroom as well as become more independent academically, socially, and vocationally. This could include a wide variety of supports both in and out of the classroom that are uniquely tailored to meet each child's needs.

On a personal side. I have been married to my husband Bob for longer than I have been a teacher. I grew up in Michigan, went to college in the Chicago area, married, and taught there for several years before moving to Chattanooga in 2015. On our vacation time, you might find us on a beach or cruise ship or visinting family. I am also a kitten foster through the Humane Educational Society and we have foster failed two babies. We recently added James and Bangles to our feline family joining our senior cat Neko.
