Ms. Locke
Welcome to a new school year! My name is Cynthia Locke and I am so excited to be the Library Media Specialist at Normal Park's Lower School!! This will be my 22nd year at Normal Park Museum Magnet. I have been teaching for 29 years and have experience in teaching Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and two Master's degrees which include Reading along with Library and Informational Science.
As the librarian, I am able to build relationships with students, parents, and the community. Furthermore, this allows me to collaborate with related arts and classroom teachers of all grade levels in order to create a plan for integrated instruction.
I look forward in creating a learning environment that will inspire students to be critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and life-long readers in our ever-changing world. I encourage every child to read 20 minutes each day. Research shows that this simple practice has the greatest impact on future success.
