Welcome to Mrs. Nelson's 2nd grade class!!!
I am honored to be your child's teacher and have the opportunity to get to know your child and family this year. I promise to take care of your child while they are in my classroom, to show them love, community, and help them grow into an amazing 2nd grader!
I grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia and lived there for 25 years. I received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Georgia in 2011. GO DAWGS! I graduated with Masters of Education in Instruction & Curriculum with a focus in STEAM education in 2022. This is my 11th year teaching and 8th at Normal Park where I've always taught 2nd grade. I have past experience in 3rd grade and Kindergarten as well, which I think gives me a great perspective on where students have come from and where they're going. I absolutely love teaching second grade at NP and there's no place I'd rather be!
My husband Zack and I have been married for 8 years and we have a 3 year old son named Milo. We also have one dog, an Australian shepherd, named Anna and a cat named Barney. We love to travel, go for walks and spend lots of time with family and friends. I am eager to get to know your children and watch them grow this year.
