Mrs. Zeigler

Twenty-one years ago, I walked into Normal Park for an interview. I really did not know what to expect. I was greeted with a group of teachers all equipped with questions to find a co-worker, a friend - to find someone to add to the Normal Park family. When I left, I was in awe. After the interview, I called my husband before I even got to my car. I told him how perfect the school would be for our family and me. I was so excited to even have the opportunity to teach at a place with such high expectations, beliefs, and wants for their teachers and students. I talked about how great of a place it would be for Konnor, our oldest son, who would be starting kindergarten.
Two weeks slowly crept by and I still had no answer. Every night, I would ask my husband, "Don't they know this is the place for me?" Finally, I got the call to confirm that I was going to be a Normal Park Teacher. To say the least, I was excited.
Konnor and I started our first year of school together. His first day in Kindergarten was my first day as a first grade teacher. Konnor went through every grade at Normal Park. Konnor recently graduated UTK and has now started his career in Huntsville. Annie, my middle child, began Normal Park in the school daycare. She was in Normal Park's first PreK class and will now be attending her third year at UTC. Jesse, my youngest son, also began Normal Park in the daycare. He will be in eleventh grade at Hixson High School. My children have all quickly moved through grade levels at Normal Park. I, however, have spent my time at Normal Park all in the first grade.
I love teaching first grade. I love teaching at Normal Park. Today I feel that same excitement as I did twenty-one years ago. I am surrounded by great teachers, awesome leaders, involved parents, and wonderful students that inspire me everyday. It is an exciting thing to be a part of Normal Park!
